1st Assistant Chief David Dowd, November 28

On Tuesday November 20th, your volunteer firefighters went to the Westchester County Training Center in Valhalla to conduct live fire training. Members practiced on the propane prop. Firefighters were able to practice advancing a hose line to the seat of the fire, extinguishing the fire, pump operations and overall, working as a team to accomplish the task at hand. Multiple Vehicle Accident

1st Assistant Chief David Dowd, November 09

Last night at 11:56 PM your volunteer fire fighters were dispatched to the Saw Mill Parkway North at the I87 exit for a motor vehicle accident with injuries. Upon arrival the chiefs identified 3 patients that would need to be evaluated and transported to the hospital. Annual Halloween Parade

Ardsley/Dobbs Ferry Parade

1st Assistant Chief David Dowd, September 21

On Saturday September 15th, the Irvington Volunteer Fire Department marched in the Westchester County Volunteer Fireman's Association hosted by our neighbors in the Ardsley and Dobbs Ferry fire departments. Your Irvington Volunteer Firefighters won a trophy for 2nd best non-regulation uniform! This was also the last parade for Engine 178 as it is due to be replaced in early November.

Drafting & Pump Operations

1st Assistant Chief David Dowd, August 29

On Tuesday, the members of the Irvington Fire Department along with Hastings and Tarrytown conducted a training drill along the Hudson River. Members set-up drafting operations pulling water from the Hudson River. While it was a hot night, members received and practiced vital skills should a fire take place near a main body of water.
